RippingAle BeerFest - September 2005
This
years RippingAle BeerFest was possibly the most successful yet, raising over
£1000 for L.I.V.E.S.
and Cancer Research
UK as well as other charities on the day. All the "Real Ale" and draft
cider sold out on the Saturday evening leaving the management (see left -
click on the image to get a larger picture if you dare) to get in emergency
supplies of excellent bottled ale for Sunday. A few bottles of "Old Peculiar"
will probably account for the state of some of the photos I took on Sunday
afternoon. Saturday evening was so well attended it was impossible to get
a good photo of anything.
The Festival was enjoyed by both young and old alike, with something for all including wine and, dare I say it - lager. Of course there were soft drinks for the younger element. JW

"Pre-fest Press Release:
Rippingale or Ripencal as it was once known, might well mean upper river forest, but it also alludes to the fact that it was famous for its good beers, or Ripping Ales" claims a spokesman for the committee.
The provision of twenty different barrels of real ale from breweries located throughout the land, including; one from as far north as the island of Orkney, down to St. Austell in deepest Cornwall forms only part of the attraction. Five real ciders and a Perry, together with wines, lager and soft drinks ensure no one should miss out on the fun. A Bar-B-Q will provide tasty food to soak up the alcohol." IM
