Rippingale Scarecrow Competition - May 2005
This year the Rippingale Village Scarecrow Competition was held in conjunction with the village Open Gardens on Saturday 21 May and Sunday 22 May. Visitors to the gardens were asked to vote for their favourite Scarecrow and the result was a close run thing with two entries sharing third place.
The winners were Albert and Alma Wood of Wendover Close with "Old
McDonald Had a Farm". Melvyn Patrick, Chairman of the Rippingale Parish
Council, presented them with the first prize of £30 on Sunday evening.
Helen and Alec Gadsby won the second prize of £20 with the "Speed
Trap", and the third prize of £10 was shared by Sophie and Katie McCormack
with the "Gladiator"
and the Stuttle family with their entry "Bill
