Welcome to the Rippingale Village Website
Rippingale is a small picturesque village sitting in open farmland to the east of the A15 some 5 miles north of Bourne in Lincolnshire, England. It has its own pub, village hall, church and residential care home. There is a visiting post office in the Bull Inn four days a week, and a full time post office about 3 miles away in Morton.
The purpose of the web-site is to provide a focal point for the village activities and amenities for the benefit of the residents, and to enlighten the would-be visitor.
The construction of the website started in August 2004. Although it is now well established there is always room for improvement, and contributions for inclusion will be welcomed as will constructive criticism (we need feedback) - please email us with your suggestions and ideas.

BEES SWARMING IN THE RIPPINGALE AREA
Messager from Angela Adams:
I keep honey bees which unfortunately do have a tendency to swarm at this time of year. If anyone has a swarm of Honey Bees arrive as a cluster hanging in a tree or bush in their garden then ring me and I will try & collect them. I am sorry but I am unable to deal with Bumble bees which are only temporary anyway, or bees in buildings. Tel: 07799 876734

KERUNG VILLAGE PROJECT
The original Kerung Village Project undertaken was designed to support a small community, largely forgotten by the World, after the devastating earth quakes of 2015. As some of you know John visited Nepal just after the initial shocks that year and spent two weeks providing aid; of food, shelter and money, donated by many people, to needy families in villages near to the Tibetan border. This report is of an unexpected follow-up visit, and Joe Main and John Kimbrey were pleased to have been part of.

DON'T GET SCAMMED
National Trading Standards have launched a new scheme to raise awareness against scams and encourage people to take a stand against them. Scams often target people in vulnerable situations – the Friends Against Scams campaign aims to protect and prevent these people from becoming victims by empowering communities to 'Take a Stand Against Scams'.

ARCHERS WARS
The war over where the idea for the Archers was born rages on. Unfortunately the Inkberrow fans totally fail to see the difference between 'conception and birth', and 'grew up'.
Inkberrow is, without a shadow of a doubt, the modern-day Ambridge, and after it was used for publicity in the early days of the series Inkberrow undoubtedly inspired the scripts from then on and still does today, but that is not where the idea and original scripts and characters were conceived and born. Originally the BBC wanted to keep the 'Archers' neutral with no specific county or town. It was some two years from conception to the first pilot series, let alone to the time to when they needed publicity pictures after the Archers went nation-wide, before the BBC had to choose a place to represent Ambridge, and Inkberrow, being local to the studios and Godfrey Baseley's home fitted the picture. Of course scripts and characters 'shifted' to fit the new home.
The rest as they say is history and all is well documented in Godfrey Baseley's autobiography and other publications, however the 'Inkberrow supporters' have failed to recognise the full story - then again with all the publicity that Inkberrow must gain from being the 'Home of the Archers' we are sure that they do not want any competition. Don't worry Inkberrow, Dowsby and Rippingale may be the birthplace, but you are without a shadow of a doubt the home of the Archers and always have been!
